Tennessee Looking to Extend NCAA Home Regional Winning Streak

Tennessee has won its last 12 NCAA postseason games in Knoxville.
The top ranked Vols hope the winning streak continues this weekend against Notre Dame, as UT hosts the Irish in the Super Regionals.
The winner of course goes to the College World Series.

The Vols are coming out of a tough regional where they twice rallied from 4-0 deficits to win. Head coach Tony Vitello doesn’t expect anything to change with Notre Dame coming to town.
Said Vitello:”Last week someone asked me walking into the park. Do you want to play Campbell or Georgia Tech? And I said well, would you like to be waterboarded by Aquafina or Dasani. (chuckles) It doesn’t matter.”
Tennessee has the top pitching staff in America, but Notre Dame isn’t far behind.
They have the seventh best ERA in the nation, and they gave up only 7 runs in 3 games in the Statesboro Regional.
Said Vitello:”You can look at the save numbers and see that they clearly trust a lot of guys and guys are capable of doing different things for them.”
Said first baseman Luc Lipcius:”I don’t think it’s anything that we haven’t seen before. This past weekend we saw a bunch of really top tier arms, so I think we’re just going to keep doing our thing and be confident in what we have.”
But how will the Irish respond to a Rowdy Rocky Top crowd at Lindsey Nelson Stadium?
Said Lipcius:”Lindsey Nelson is absolutely electric this time of year. Good luck to whoever tries to come in and play us here.”
Said Vitello:”When it’s our home crowd I think it’s a little bit more of a comfort zone, and it’s something that helps our play. We don’t have any control over what the other team thinks, but at the very least, it’s a loud place to play in if you are the opposing team.”
