Tennessee’s drag law rejected by a judge who says it is too broad and unconstitutional

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- Following the recent drag ban in Tennessee, a federal judge, who was appointed by former President Trump, rejected the law for being “too broad and unconstitutional.”

Late Friday, U.S. District Judge Thomas Parker, claimed that the law is both “unconstitutionally vague and substantially overbroad.”
The law would have banned adult cabaret performances from public property or anywhere minors might be present.
Performers who broke the law risked being charged with a misdemeanor or a felony for a repeat offense.
The drag law marks the second major proposal targeting LGBTQ+ people passed by Tennessee lawmakers this year.
Governor Lee signed into law a legislation banning most transgender medical procedures, which is currently being challenged in court.
