Terrell Owens takes local kids on a shopping spree

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Thirty five area students were taken on a free shopping trip by Hall of Famer Terrell Owens this morning.

They were at Dick’s sporting goods on Gunbarrel, where the kids were each given a $125 gift card to spend any way they wanted to.

Owens was there to cheer them on.

“I don’t know where I would be today if it wasn’t for those opportunities and so for me to be here, and to have accomplished and come back and give back to the community especially surrounding you know the honor of being indicted into the hall of fame number one..it means a lots to myself, but obviously to this community.”

Terrell is finally being inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame, which had snubbed him for several years.

As a protest, he decided not to attend the official induction ceremonies. Instead he decided to give his acceptance speech at his alma mater here at UTC.
