Chattanooga partakes in 4th annual S.O.S. Fire Fest

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The fourth annual S.O.S. Fire Fest on Saturday featured all of Chattanooga’s first responders. The event focused on the collaboration between all of the first responders and the citizens.

“I’m so glad there’s so much participation all of our community members are out, but what it is just a collaboration of all the resources that are rich in this city and in this county. Coming together and showing how we do work together and giving the community some fun at the same time,” said Chattanooga Police Chief Celeste Murphy.

The S.O.S. Fest has brought together all of Chattanooga law enforcement to collaborate with not only each other, but with the community and try to make impactful relationships with citizens.

“It’s an awareness piece for the community because often times people come to these events, and they don’t even know what is right here at their fingertips. It’s a way to get that communication out and get the education piece out on this and that’s why these things are so successful and I’m so glad there’s so many people,” said Chief Murphy.

The event featured a long list of food trucks, activities such as the drunk driving goggles where people had to maneuver through cones without hitting them. But getting everyone in the community involved is the most important part to this event.

“I just want everybody to work with us together, I want us to have a fun filled summer. I want everybody to be able to come to Chattanooga, whether it is for work, or even if people live here. So, let’s get together and do that.”

With this being the fourth time having the S.O.S. fest, Chief Murphy wants to expand off of this event and continue to find new ways to keep all first responders impactful. Whether it’s fire fighters, police officers, or EMT’s.
