The Head of the Hooch
Body: CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Trailing all the way back to 1982, The Head of the Hooch regatta has continued to bring thousands of competitors from over 30 states and several foreign countries for a weekend of rowing in Chattanooga.
This competition occurs every year on the first full weekend of November. The weekend is supported and orchestrated by volunteers from local rowing clubs and the community.
The Friends of the Hooch Incorporated, the main organizer for the Head of the Hooch, has continued to facilitate the success of the competition each year.
The mission of this non-profit organization is to simply promote the virtues of sportsmanship, teamwork, inclusion, and personal responsibility by delivering a world class competitive rowing event.
As the event has over 88 separate events being held with competitors of ages ranging from Under 17 all the way to over 65, Ross’s Landing is expected to host over 2,000 boats and over 5,000 rowers competing over the next couple of days.
As over 20,000 spectators are expected to attend for racing in the heart of downtown Chattanooga, be sure to head down to get in on some of the action.
The action starts tomorrow morning and continues until nightfall both Saturday and Sunday. For the schedule of events, see here.
