The Santa Train hit the road to make a few deliveries
Everyone knows that tonight Santa will be escorted by nine reindeer to deliver gifts, but before that, he was escorted by nine police cars as a part of the Santa Train to make a few special stops.
The Chattanooga-Hamilton County Forgotten Child Fund has worked to make sure every child has something under their tree on Christmas morning.
Firetrucks, police cars, ambulances, and emergency vehicles lined up all in a row with gifts to deliver to a few special homes…
Clay Engle, PIO for the Forgotten Child Fund said, "We are not going to let a child be forgotten tomorrow morning on Christmas."
Every year, the Forgotten Child Fund selects a group needy families to visit on Christmas Eve. Over twenty emergency vehicles joined the train this year.
"All of our volunteers are either fire, police, EMS rescue related or their families, and this is just part of my Christmas tradition now," said Engle.
While today focuses on only a small group of families, the Forgotten Child Fund has given out over nine thousand holiday gifts this season.
"This year we are estimating we know we have done over 9,500 children. We don’t have an exact count, because the last three days have been so busy we really haven’t had time to sit down and finish our count."
Yesterday, one of the founders of the Forgotten Child Fund died, and while all of today’s festivities are dedicated to the victims of the July 16th shooting, Johnny Wright was on everyone’s mind.
