Tourism Company unveils findings of study on Convention Center future

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Chattanooga Tourism Company presented findings on how to best promote the growth of the Chattanooga Convention Center.

Among many findings, they found that the Center does not have the amount of space to consistently attract big conventions.

They say interested promoters who want to bring their events here simply aren’t able to because of the lack of space, and instead are going to markets like Atlanta and Nashville.

They say an expansion of the convention center and new headquarter hotel connected to the center is needed to help prevent a loss in tourism revenue.

Barry White, the President and CEO of the Chattanooga Tourism Company, said, “Let’s figure out what we want to do, we do we want do, we can do some things quick and rather inexpensively, and then you have these longer-term plans that will take years to execute, fund, and complete.”

The findings are not concrete plans but are a starting point for eventual ones to be released.

The Chattanooga Tourism Company has laid out their entire findings on their website.
