Trial date set for murder suspect of Chattanooga businessman

Patten Towers surveillance footage of the last few moments a man identified as Darryl Roberts walks up to Chris Wright and shoots him in the head, killing him.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The man charged in the murder of a prominent Chattanooga businessman and Baylor alum was back in court Tuesday morning.

Darryl Roberts is charged with first-degree murder in the September 2023 death of Christopher Wright.

Surveillance video from in front of Patten Towers in downtown Chattanooga presented at Roberts’ preliminary hearing showed a man identified as Roberts get into an argument with Wright and then fatally shooting him.

This morning, the trial date for Roberts was set for next April, as he has pleaded not guilty to his charges.
