Tulip Picking Begins at Lorenzen Farm and Smith-Perry Berries

CHATTANOOGA,TN (WDEF) Spring is in full bloom at Lorenzen Farm and Smith-Perry Berries, as both farms open their doors to the public for a season of tulip picking and family fun. Visitors are invited to explore the vibrant fields, handpick colorful tulips, and create lasting memories in the fresh spring air.

Kristen, owner of Lorenzen Farm, is excited for the season and grateful for the perfect weather conditions. “We’re always a little thankful for the weather, and this year, we’ve had sunshine and warm temperatures,” she says. “Our season usually lasts about four weeks. It can start as early as February, but this year, we didn’t open until mid-March. We’re hoping to make it through Easter.”

At Smith-Perry Berries, the experience goes beyond just flower picking. In addition to selecting tulips, visitors can enjoy activities such as cow feedings, explore local vendors, and learn fun facts about tulips. Michelle Smith, owner of Smith-Perry Berries, loves seeing families enjoy the farm together. “I always love to see families—grandmothers, daughters, and granddaughters—coming together to enjoy the flowers,” she says.

While tulip picking is a highlight of the season, it’s also important to know how to properly care for these delicate blooms. “Tulips are the divas of the garden,” says Kristen. “You need to get them in water quickly, trim the stems, and change the water regularly to keep them fresh.”

With fields full of vibrant tulips and activities for the whole family, Lorenzen Farm and Smith-Perry Berries are the perfect spring destinations to make memories and enjoy the beauty of the season.
