TVA power problems this morning in Polk & Bradley Counties

OCOEE, Tenn. (WDEF) – A lot of alarms failed to go off Tuesday morning in Polk and Bradley counties.

The Tennessee Valley Authority is working to restore power to the Ocoee and McDonald substations.

The Volunteer Energy Cooperative reported the outage around 5:30 AM.

They now blame a tree that fell on TVA transmission lines along highway 64.

At its peak, 6,300 VEC customers were out of power.

The utility reports that TVA has since restored power to the substations, but 1,600 customers remain out as of 8 AM.
