TVA to keep downtown office open for foreseeable future

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- TVA’s CEO Jeff Lyash says thousands of employees who had been working remotely will be returning to the office.

This is due to President Donald Trump’s executive order that orders all federal workers to cease remote work.

That includes the TVA offices in downtown Chattanooga.

They had been considering getting rid of the complex built in 19-85, as many of the employees who had been working there were working from home.

However, they now say they plan to keep most of the office functioning for the foreseeable future.

“We announced a voluntary reduction in force. We expect most of it to play out over the next three or four months. That combined with this return to the office will inform what sort of facilities in terms of square feet in nature we need,” said Lyash.

He says they are still determining how many more people will be asked to return to the downtown complex.

The Systems Operation Center is currently in the process of moving to a new facility in Meigs County.
