TVA Uplift grants go to local schools

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) awarded $2.6 million in school improvement grants today. It’s part of the School Uplift Program.

They granted $10,000 to $410,000 to schools across six states.

The award amounts were based on a year-long program that the schools took part of.

During this program, schools cut energy waste through behavioral changes in students, faculty and staff.

TVA awarded these grants for school energy upgrades and improved learning environments.

Naomi Elementary School, Red Bud Elementary School, Athens City Middle School, Bradley Central High School and Red Bank High School received the grants.

Many other schools received grants as well.
