Two local orgazations partner to celebrate National Tree Day
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Today is National Tree Day and the local Kiwannis Club and the Hamilton Soil Conservation District teamed up to inform the Scenic City. This partnership has lasted for more than 50 years.
Both organizations hand out seeds and trees to help beautify the city. They also work together to help inform the public about the benefits that nature has on its residents.
Renita ‘Shorty’ Beaty, Soil Conservative, said “We also have wild flower packets that we’re giving away. These are pollinator packets and you’ve heard on the news during the last few weeks bout the bumble bee you know is almost on tjhe verge of extionction and so these pollinator packs are very much important to encourage bees and pollination.”>
Tree Day is always held on the second Friday of March.
