Two people dead following early morning Hixson residential fire
UPDATE (2/5/2025): The two rescued from the Hixson residential fire Tuesday morning have died.
The Chattanooga Fire Department (CFD) stated that the occupants were a 76-year-old female and a 71-year-old male.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
HIXSON, Tenn. (WDEF) – Overnight on Tuesday, Chattanooga Fire Department rescued two people from a residential fire in Hixson.
At 3:46 A.M., firefighters responded to the 700 block of Ashley Forest Drive off Lower Mill Road for a residential fire with a person trapped inside.
Upon arrival, firefighters found flames coming from the back corner of the house with heavy smoke inside.
The first victim was found in an upstairs bedroom and the second victim was found in the back
bedroom on the other side of the hall.
HCEMS attended to both victims as they suffered smoke inhalation. They have been transported to a local hospital and are in critical condition.
More than 800 feet of water supply line was laid from Lower Mill Road.
Captain Scott Pell says, in regard to the rescue operation, that “It was a very good stop considering the rescue operations that were happening, with crews keeping fire off the units making the rescues and the victims. They conducted an effective coordinated attack.”
