Two-vehicle crash on highway 58 left one person dead

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — A two-vehicle crash on the 5600 block of Highway 58 left one person dead Friday evening.

Chattanooga Police responded to the scene at 6:52 p.m. on March 21, 2025, where they found a 61-year-old woman deceased.

According to the preliminary investigation by CPD’s Traffic Division, Vehicle 1, a Hyundai, was traveling southbound on Highway 58 and attempted to turn east onto Ferdinand Piëch Way under a flashing yellow turn signal.

During the turn, the Hyundai entered the path of Vehicle 2, a Jeep, which was traveling northbound on Highway 58.

The Jeep struck the passenger side of the Hyundai, resulting in fatal injuries to the Hyundai’s passenger.

Hamilton County EMS transported the driver of Vehicle 1 and the passenger of Vehicle 2 to a local hospital for treatment of suspected minor injuries.

Chattanooga Police say this is a preliminary report and the investigation remains ongoing.
