TWRA reports Labor Day Weekend was very deadly on Tennessee lakes

NASHVILLE (WDEF) – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency reports final numbers from the Labor Day Weekend on state waterways.

There were four boating-related fatalities, including the Jet Ski accident on Chickamauga Lake.

A 24 year old Dayton man died when he drove his jet ski into a dock in the darkness on Saturday night in a creek feeding into the Tennessee River in Rhea County.

The other fatalities happened on Cherokee Lake (north of Knoxville) and Kentucky Lake (Land Between The Lakes).

TWRA also made four “boating under the influence” arrests.

Tennessee has seen 14 water-related fatalities so far in 2017.
