UnifiEd launches Pact for Public Education

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – Non-profit UnifiEd launched its Pact for Public Education Tuesday.
Officials held a press conference on the steps of the Hamilton County Courthouse Tuesday morning to address UnifiEd’s key goals.
That is to empower people to get involved, take action, and support community leaders who make education a priority.
The catalyst was a U.S. Department of Education and Yale study that found that three out of four students who are poor readers in third grade will remain poor readers throughout high school.
Elizabeth Crews serves as UnifiEd Executive Director.  She said, "We’ve spent the past year getting to know the community, talking to them about what their priorities are for public education and what they want to see in public education and we then took all of that data and married it with best practice research."
