Union Gospel Mission Hosts Successful Labor Day BBQ Fundraiser

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) The Union Gospel Mission held a successful Labor Day Barbecue Fundraiser, where they served free barbecue plates to all attendees. The 10th annual barbecue attracted in large crowds, all excited to savor a tasty meal and support a meaningful cause.

“We’re here celebrating our 10th year. When we started, there weren’t many people doing anything on Labor Day, so it was a great opportunity for us to set up and support those who wanted to celebrate. Many people enjoy having BBQ on Labor Day but prefer not to make it at home. By offering a good BBQ plate and accepting a small donation, we can all benefit from it” said John Rector Director of Union Gospel Mission.

Today’s fundraiser received a significant boost from an anonymous donor who generously contributed $5,000. This means that every dollar raised will be matched up to $5,000.

The Union Gospel Mission’s goal is to support the community and create positive change in any way they can.

“Our goal is to reach out as effectively as possible, to help to the best of our ability, and to provide opportunities for people to change their lives,” said Rector.
