United Way Community Campaign

United Way of Greater Chattanooga kicked off their community campaign Thursday.

Hundreds of people were at the event held at the Convention Center.

New President and CEO Lesley Scearce delivered the keynote address by stating every dollar given to the campaign goes to support families in Hamilton and surrounding counties.

Representatives with the United Way hope to raise close to 12.7 million dollars in the new campaign.

Keith Sanford, United Way of Greater Chattanooga Chair said, "It all stays local. None goes to any national organization. So it’s all used here. It’s one of the few campaigns around that every dollar you give stays here and is used."

United Ways first campaign was held in 1922.
