United Way teams up with Food City

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – United Way teamed up with Food City to host the 18th annual Celebrity Bagging Event this afternoon. 

At locations across the county, Food City hosted local celebrities including UTC athletes to partner with United Way to raise money for those in need of help during the holidays. 

Participants at the grocery stores were able to make a donation of choice when checking out. If the individual chose to donate, a bell was rang for appreciation. 

United Way of Greater Chattanooga strives to help those in need with early education, health and well-being, community programs, local fundraising, and more. 

The organization even offers a service where people can call the number 211 to be connected to resources for food, shelter, and a plethora of other opportunities. 

Shoppers were able to stop by participating locations throughout the day to make a donation to contribute to the cause. 

With the help of community members and support from across the county, the organization is able to continue their work.
