UPDATE: Man in stable condition after wife shot him multiple times

UPDATE: On April 15, 2026 at around 9 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence after receiving a call from Jeffrey Perkins, who stated he had been shot multiple times by his wife, Rita Perkins, according to the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office.

They say Mr. Perkins was found with multiple gunshot wounds after officers arrival and he was airlifted to Erlanger for treatment.

He is currently in stable condition.

Rita Perkins was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.

This incident is still under investigation.

WHITFIELD COUNTY — The Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a domestic related shooting that occurred at a residence on Boyd Road in the Beaverdale Road.

They say one person is being treated for injuries and one person is in custody.

They say they believe this is an isolated incident and there is no danger or threat to the public.
