UT chancellor candidate to visit Knoxville campus
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – The University of Tennessee says a second candidate for the open chancellor’s position is set to visit the Knoxville campus.
The university says in a news release that a forum with Beverly Davenport is scheduled for Monday. Davenport was appointed the interim president at the University of Cincinnati in July.
The Knoxville News Sentinel reports University of Georgia provost Pamela S. Whitten came to Knoxville a week ago. The university has not released the name of a third candidate that it plans to interview.
The university expects to name a successor to Jimmy Cheek by year’s end. Cheek resigned earlier this year to rejoin the university’s faculty after seven years as chancellor.
