UTC reacts to racist vandalism
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – UTC is coping with racist vandalism targeting Black History Month posters on campus.
The posters were advertising Black History events.
They were covered with references to Adolf Hitler.
The posters were removed since the group mentioned on the vandalized signs does not have a permit to be active on campus.
The UT campus also is dealing with a white supremacist group that used campus facilities (legally) for an event.
University system President Dr. Joe DiPietro wrote this on both cases.
“History is littered with the tragedy of unchecked hate, racism and violence. And at the University of Tennessee, we should bluntly call out what is wrong: Hate, racism and violence are wrong. There is no place for them on any of our campuses or university facilities.”
