UTC Trying to Enhance the Game Day Experience For Fans

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) Most fans usually have a good time when they go to a sporting event, and UTC is working hard to enhance that game day experience.
People expect more than a Coke and popcorn at a ballgame these days, and the Mocs are trying to make sure they get plenty more.

Winning is obviously the best game day experience, but UTC athletic director Mark Wharton says created a unique environment is important.
Said Wharton:”I call it outside the white lines to do what we can to make it a fun environment in between plays. People wanting to come into the stadium. Fireworks. Hospitality plays a great deal in it. What kind of food options we have. Pricing.”
This year, the Mocs will kick the football season with a brand new bigger video board.
Said head football coach Tom Arth:”Certainly I’m sure some of our players will enjoy looking up and seeing their replays, but I think it’s for the fans. Anything we can do to help them to enjoy the experience and to want to come back and support our team then we are all for it.”
The football stadium will have a new video screen, and so will the basketball arena at McKenzie.
Said head basketball coach Lamont Paris:”The new scoreboard. Center-hung. That will be fantastic. Just slowly but surely trying to make additions that will improve the fan experience and ultimately the overall game experience.”
Said Wharton:”I think the center-hung is really going to be transformational as far as that experience. There are a little other things that we are planning that we want to implement that’s going to be unbelievable. Not only will they talk about in Chattanooga, but they’ll talk about it nationally about a program at our level being able to do what we do.”
Wharton says the Mocs are willing to do just about anything to get the crowd going.
Said Wharton:”Last year you can count in basketball ‘Dilly Dilly’. We have over-used that. But again, capitalizing on the times and doing different things.”
