Verizon virtual job fair Thursday

Tennessee (WDEF) – Verizon is doing a Virtual Career Fair Thursday looking to fill 1,000 positions in Tennessee.

The company is looking for college graduates and students for customer service and tech support jobs.

This is Verizon’s first-ever nationwide, virtual career fair.

Officials say this is an opportunity for job seekers to speak directly with recruiters via online chat instead of the frustrating online application process.

“In the past, job seekers may have had to travel and prepare to interview for what might be a single opportunity,” explained said Jerry Fountain, Verizon Wireless president for the Carolinas and Tennessee. “It seems natural for an innovative company like Verizon to use technology to connect skilled applicants with our recruiters in a convenient, yet impactful, way. We’re confident that we will connect with many outstanding potential employees, who can help us better serve our customers here in Tennessee.”

Officials say to create an account online before the event.

The event will be from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 23rd.

Job seekers will be able to log on then to interact with recruiters.
