Veteran’s Park restrooms closing due to repeated vandalism
SPRING CITY, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Town of Spring City is closing the restrooms at Veteran’s Park due to repeated vandalism, they announced on Thursday.
The bathrooms will be closed until further notice. City officials said they have been vandalized six times in the past month.
Someone graffitied the bathrooms with permanent market, paint and sharp objects. Graffiti has included racial slurs.
Vandalism in the restrooms also included destruction of soap and toilet paper dispensers, and clogged toilets and sinks with foreign objects and toilet paper. There has also been defecation and urination on floors and walls, the city added.
Additionally, someone has vandalized the pavilion as well. Outlets and covers, electrical conduit and water spigots have been destroyed, according to the city.
The city said they found broken glass on the basketball courts.
In addition, the city adds that they cannot keep spending taxpayer money on constant repairs of the bathrooms. City officials are asking the public to report any suspicious activity or relevant information to the police department. Contact them at 423-285-4140.
