Vice President announces solar power deal at Dalton Plant

Kamala Harris will speak at Qcells about deal with the Biden administration

DALTON, Georgia (WDEF) – Vice President Kamala Harris is travelling to Whitfield County today to celebrate a Korean investment in solar technology in the region.

She will speak at Qcells after touring the plant on Carbondale Road.

Qcells makes solar panels at their Dalton facility.

The Vice President tweeted “I’m traveling to Dalton, Georgia to announce the largest investment in community solar in our nation’s history. This historic investment will create good-paying jobs and help families across the country access the benefits of solar, including lower utility bills and cleaner air.”

The South Korean company announced earlier this year that they will build another solar manufacturing plant in Cartersville.

The Vice President will announce today an agreement with the Biden administration to use the solar panels in Illinois, Maine and Maryland.

These community solar projects will allow people to use the power from the shared sites.

The solar project is paid for by tax credits in the Inflation Reduction Act.
