Victim blames hydroplaning for wild, chain collision wreck on I 75

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – A multi-vehicle crash on I-75 South at the Bonny Oaks on-ramp backs up traffic for quite some time.

It happened just before 10AM.

By the time Our news crew arrived on scene, there were as a many as five vehicles including an 18-wheeler involved.

At one point, all Southbound lanes were closed which backed up traffic for a few miles.

Passenger Dustin Hobbs described the chain reaction crash to us “It was about right here on I-75, copming onto the entrance ramp trying to merge onto the interstate when we lost traction due to the wet road. We were only doing 20 miles per hour and we lost control and slid into on-coming traffic when an 18-wheeler T-boned us. I would like to say my mother as driving and she’s fine. She has asthma and lung problems but she is okay.”

The semi that crashed into the Hobb’s vehicle took out part of the concrete divider.
