Victim identified in fatal crash on Dayton Pike

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tennessee(WDEF) – An early morning crash in Hamilton County leaves one person dead and another in critical condition.

It happened just before 5 AM in the 1500 block of Dayton Pike.

Hamilton County Sheriff investigators say Haley Howard, 17, died when her car and two other vehicles collided.

According to investigators, Howard was traveling South in the Northbound lanes of Dayton Pike.

Her Honda reportedly sideswiped a Chevy Blazer then struck a Nissan Versa head-on.

Howard reportedly died at the scene while the driver of the Nissan had to be airlifted to the hospital in critical condition. The driver of the Chevy Blazer was unharmed.

Investigators have yet to say what caused Howard to drive in the wrong lane.
