According to court records, the pursuit started after three suspects allegedly robbed and attacked a worker inside of a restaurant on Gunbarrel Road.

Two of the suspects are juveniles.

Some activists in the community are saying that the officer used excessive force during the arrest.

We reached out to CPD and they sent us the following statement:

“CPD is aware of the video that was posted on social media.

There are circumstances that led to the two shown in the video becoming engaged.

CPD is looking into the officer body worn camera video along with other video and statements that occurred prior to and during that interaction.”

An arrest affidavit reports that 22-year-old Brandon Smith and two minors were arrested for the assault.

They were all charged with robbery, aggravated assault, evading and resisting arrest and inciting a riot.

Smith was also charged with the delinquency of a minor and escape.
