Volkswagen halting diesel Passat manufacturing in Chattanooga
Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – Automotive News Daily is reporting that Volkswagen is halting the production of diesel-powered 2016 Passats at the Chattanooga plant.
Volkswagen is in the middle of a emissions testing scandal where the EPA says there is illegal software in some of its vehicles that masks emissions.
The online paper quoted the Chattanooga VW Plant Spokesperson Scott Wilson as saying, "
As we are in the middle of the ramp up of the production volume, it is no problem to adjust the mix to accommodate this change." They also reported Wilson said there were no other changes to the shop floor and that the expansion construction is continuing.
