Volkswagen Unveils Concept Cross Coupe GTE

Volkswagen unveils a brand new S-U-V design at the Detroit Auto show but will this one be built here in Chattanooga?
It’s called the Cross Coupe G.T.E.
The 5-seater crossover is a smaller version of the Cross Blue S-U-V.
The Cross Blue is set to be manufactured at the Chattanooga plant starting next year.
Volkswagen officials haven’t indicated where or when this concept Cross Coupe design will be made.
A Volkswagen Chattanooga spokesman tells News 12 the plant can handle the design since it is so similar to the Cross Blue.
Volkswagen Technical Development Official Dr. Heinz-Jakob Neusser said the Cross Coupe features German engineering while appealing to the American lifestyle.
"Typical German features include great efficiency, intuitive operation, and top quality.  American features include spaciousness, superior performance, exceptional comfort and the type of proportions that excite U.S. customers,"
The Cross Coupe operates on a plug in hybrid power plant, features 22-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with 285/40 tires, and a 10.1 inch touchscreen using proximity sensors and gesture control.
Volkswagen also announced it delivered more than 10-million vehicles in 2014 for the first time.
