Vols Butch Jones Says “Nothing Has Changed” Regarding Support From AD John Currie
Even though the Vols record fell to 3-5 after a heart-breaking loss to Kentucky on Saturday, head coach Butch Jones survived the weekend.
While many in Big Orange Nation desire a coaching change, Jones will still coach U-T Saturday against Southern Miss.
Today, Jones was asked about how things stood with athletic director John Currie.
Reporter:”Butch you say you speak with Currie every day. Have you been given any reassurances about your status beyond this season?”
Jones:”All we do is we talk about day-by-day and week-by-week. That’s been the constant theme since he came here. Again our conversations are from anything and everything.”
Reporter:”Going back to Saturday night, you had said that you felt absolutely you had the support of Currie. How do you feel in the last 36 hours? Has that changed at all? What feed back have you gotten if any at all.”
Jones:”Nothing has changed at all. I understand everybody being upset. If I was a fan, I’d be upset too. I bleed with them. But I also understand we need to win some football games.”
