Vols Coordinator Bob Shoop Plans to Play More Guys on Defense
For the Vols to get a few more ‘W’s this season, they’ll need their defense to stay healthy. Injuries brutalized the Tennessee defense last year. That’s why coordinator Bob Shoop is trying harder to build more depth.
Said Shoop:”One of the things I think I feel strongly about this team is being committed to playing a lot of players. Brady (Hoke) and I have talked about playing five D-tackles. Four or five D-ends. We feel like there is pretty good depth at the linebacker position. And really we are expecting to play seven or eight defensive backs as well. Keep them fresh during the course of the season, so we can play just as well in November as we are in August and September. That would be key for us.”
