Vols Defense Feels Prepared For App State’s Rushing Attack
Tennessee will face one of the nation’s top rushing teams when App State rolls onto Rocky Top on Thursday night.
The Mountaineers averaged 271-yards rushing a game last season, the sixth best total in the nation.
But the Vols defense should feel prepared.
After all, they have to tackle two of the best backs in the nation in Jalen Hurd and Alvin Kamara.
Said defensive lineman Corey Vereen-“They’re pretty formidable to go against every day in practice. I feel like if I can play against them, then I can play against anybody. I don’t see any reason why playing against them would be any different than anybody else like Georgia or Bama or anybody like that. It’s a good test every day to make sure you’re ready for game time.”
Added linebacker Darrin Kirkland-“As a young player I came in, and I was like, if I can tackle Jalen Hurd, I can tackle anybody in this conference or anybody in this country. It’s great preparation for our defense, as well as myself. It’s really a great opportunity.”
