Vols Defensive Coordinator Bob Shoop Explains What Happened on Gators Hail Mary

What just happened?
That was the question Tennessee fans had following that stunning Hail Mary loss to Florida.
So here’s Vols defensive coordinator Bob Shoop to explain what just happened.
Said Shoop:”Our strategy on that last play was watch them come out of the huddle. If they come out of the huddle, and it’s a hail mary type formation, call time out and set the defense. They did not do that. If you actually watch the play, Feleipe Franks went to his first key. Wasn’t there. We took away the play. We took away the play that they ran. We should have done a little bit better job of a pass rush. Not letting him set his feet. And so he looked at one. Looked at two. Looked at three. Started to run. And somehow someway, he made eye contact with (Tyrie) Cleveland. And you actually see him. Cleveland point and him point. And he was just kind of falling backwards. I sort of wish Quart’e Sapp would have been a little more explosive and knocked the dog crap out of him right there, but he didn’t. And he just threw a dime. The player got behind our player, and it was a disasterous ending.”
