Vols Hope to Find Their Mojo Again During the Bye Week
Back-to-back losses going into the bye week stole some of the Vols magic from the first half of the regular season.
But Tennessee can still manage a great season if they return from their off week healthy, and ready to roll.
Losing to your big rival by 39-points doesn’t make a head coach a happy camper.
Said head coach Butch Jones:”But we all know that performance was unacceptable from everyone in our organization. Starting with me. Starting with the coaches. Starting with everyone.”
Said linebackers coach Tommy Thigpen:”Little things we kind of lost touch of last week when the game was kind of out of reach. The fundamentals went to waste.”
Said receivers coach Zach Azzanni:”You know coming off that game Saturday obviously we don’t need to be disappointed. We’re not disappointed. We’re not discouraged.”
Injuries continue to mount for Tennessee, but that’s life in the SEC.
Said Jones:”Depth of your program will start to show itself and reveal itself. Just from the grind of a long season. The physicality of this conference. There are no off weeks. You have to bring your A-game each and every week.”
And Jones hopes his team can find their A-game during the bye week.
Said Jones: “Great thing during the bye week first of all is you can experiment scheme-wise. We’ve done a little bit something different in our meetings. We’re not the ones doing the talking. We’re making our players talk because it doesn’t matter what we know, it’s what they know. We have to have some individuals step up and own their role and embrace their role.”
