Vols Ready to Kick New Season Against Bowling Green

Tennessee elected to open their new season in Nashville with a home game against Bowling Green. The Vols will look a little green themselves with the number of freshmen expected to play.

After a month of fall camp, it’s time for a real opponent.
Said defensive back Brian Randolph,"I think we’re ready. I think we have a good attitude going into week one. Everyone feels confident. Everyone is just ready to play."
Coach Jones is ready, and a little anxious.
"In terms of freshmen, we could play upwards of 22 true freshmen Saturday afternoon. This will be the first full game of blocking and tackling. Being able to sustain blocks.  How are your young players are going to perform? Special teams. Anything and everything because you don’t know."
Bowling Green features a fast pace offense, but they might have their hands full with the Vols defensive line.
Said Randolph,"We’ve got some monsters up-front. That’s how I feel about it. They’re going to be eating. They’re going to make our job easier. They really don’t compare to any team I’ve played for. Probably the highest level of talent I’ve ever seen on our D-line."
The game will go down in Nashville, and Jones is hoping for a sell-out.
"We’re excited about playing in Nashville for many reasons. First of all, when we look at our recruiting success, it stems in the state of Tennessee first and foremost. You look at both of our freshmen All-Americans are from Nashville in Jashon Robertson and Derek Barnett."
Added Randolph,"I’d definitely rather have a home game. Going over there gives our young people a chance to be on the road. A different atmosphere. I think it will be a good experience for us."
Kickoff is at 4pm from the Titans Nissan Stadium.
