Vols Searching For First Victory in the Swamp Since 2003

Tennessee has not enjoyed much success in Gainesville in recent years.
They’ve lost six straight on the Gators campus.
The Vols will try to notch their first win at the Swamp since 2003, as they open up their SEC slate against Florida.
The Gators and Big Orange. A rivalry that defines the SEC.
Said Vols offensive coordinator Larry Scott:”All I can say is really in a nutshell these are the reasons and these are the games you come to Tennessee for. It’s why you want to be a Tennessee Volunteer.”
Last year, Tennessee ended an eleven game losing streak to their rival reptiles.
Said Vols tight end Ethan Wolf:”Obviously last year was a good reminder of what it feels like to beat Florida. It’s something we want to make a little bit more routine around here.”
The Vols played two quarterbacks last week against Indiana State, but head coach Butch Jones will not say if he’ll rotate quarterbacks against the Gators.
Said Jones:”When I look back, I was very, very pleased with both individuals. I think they gained some confidence. It was great to get them in there. We’ll continue to compete, and we’ll see what happens through this course and week of preparation.”
Reporter:”Do you have anything in your background that would compare as far as big games to the pressure. This is kind of a legacy game for Tennessee quarterbacks.”
Said quarterback Quinten Dormady:”Just go out and play my game. Just go out and execute on the task at hand and not try to get ahead of yourself, and that’s what I’m going to have to do on Saturday.”
Florida has struggled with their quarterback situation of late, a situation the Vols hope to exploit.
Said Jones:”This is a line of scrimmage league. It all starts with impacting the quarterback. It’s more than just sacks. It’s tipped footballs. It’s pressures. It’s making him escape the pocket.”
Grabbing an early lead against a team that has lost their offensive mojo could be advantageous for Tennessee.
Said Wolf:”We have to start fast. Hit’em in the mouth. We don’t want to get down 21-0 again like we did last year.”
Kickoff is at 3:30pm, and the game will be televised on News 12 Now.
