Vols Try to Recover From Devastating Loss to Florida

It’s Rocky Times on Rocky Top following that devastating loss to Florida.
But with nine games still left to play in the regular season, head coach Butch Jones hopes the last-second defeat will galvanize the Volunteers.
Said Jones”We all hurt. We’re angry. We’re pissed. All of the above.”
That’s how you feel when you win the stat sheet, only to lose the game on a 70-yard hail mary as time expires.
Said Jones:”You have to forget about it. Unfortunately, it’s a hard one to forget about, but you have to move on.”
Said defensive lineman Kendal Vickers:”Anytime you lose the way we loss, you’ll always be frustrated. That’s what we want out of them. We want guys to be frustrated that we lost.”
Said Jones:”UMass is not going to feel sorry for ourselves. Nobody is going to feel sorry for us. So again, we have to get back and go to work. That’s part of being a mature football team. It’s a long football season. Maybe people don’t want to hear it, but it it what it is. We have to get ready to play the next snap and the next play of the game. The next game we have to move forward.”
The offense will move forward with John Kelly ran, who racked up 237 yards of total offense against Florida.
Said Jones:”He’s becoming the face of the leadership of our football program. The energy and the passion is John Kelly’s edge. That’s what makes him who he is. So again, he does a great job of doing it in the realm of team.”
Injuries are hitting Tennessee again.
Coach Jones says receiver Jauan Jennings and linebacker Cortez McDowell are out for the year with wrist injuries. And safety Todd Kelly may be done for the year with a knee injury.
Said Vickers:”We’ve lost a few guys, but the train keeps going. We need guys to step up no matter whether your role wasn’t playing that much to maybe you might be starting.”
