Volunteer Call: Teen Challenge

Chattanooga (WDEF) – Our Volunteer Call for this week is for Teen Challenge of the Mid South.

The organization uses a faith based approach to ending addiction.

They have been serving the Chattanooga area for 35 years now.

On Thursday, they hold their annual Spring Banquet.

It’s a chance for supporters of the ministry to meet the people they are helping, and to continue their support for another year.

But the organization also relies on volunteers.

You won’t work with the students directly, but you can support their efforts.

Here is a list of jobs they need help with now.

1. Drivers to take students to doctor appointments & special events
2. Answering phones and directing calls in the evening
3. Special Events – helping with events such as the banquet and walk-a-thon and golf tournament
4. Maintenance projects such as painting and cleaning on the campus
5. Transporting the Teen Challenge VW bug "Hootie" to special events and being his host at the event
6. A volunteer coordinator

People go to Teen Challenge when they hit rock bottom.

For many, a judge gives them a choice between jail time or rehab time.

At the Spring Banquet Thursday night, supporters will hear testimonials and performances from students who have changed their lives.
