Volunteers Needed for Cemetery Flag Placement
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — As Memorial Day approaches, local groups are preparing to honor our nation’s fallen.
Retired Navy Captain Mickey McCamish put out a call this week requesting volunteers.
They will be placing American flags at gravesites in the National Cemetery in Chattanooga.
They will begin bright and early on Saturday, May 23rd.
Captain McCamish tells us, “We need volunteers to place the flags. That’s the main need is volunteers to come out. 7 o’clock in the morning and the reason for 7 o’clock in the morning is so that people can go on with the rest of the day. So we come out and any amount of time that one can give would be appreciated if you’re going to get 30 minutes 45 minutes that’s great.”
Captain McCamish says volunteers should bring a small screwdriver to help with the placement of the flags. The flags will be retired on Saturday, May the 30th.
