Walker County Fire Rescue warn residents of space heater fires
WALKER COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF)- Walker County Fire Rescue is encouraging folks to be cautious about space heaters.
In the last 36 hours they responded to several structural fires caused by these heaters.
In order to protect your home from a fire make sure your heater is 3 feet from anything combustible.
Walker County Fire Rescue says make sure you have properly working fire alarms.
“I just want to drive on the fact that, you know, make sure that your spice eight or wall here, at any age you’re using is, you have declared proper clearance around those heaters,” said Scott Forrest, Fire Marshall, Walker County Fire Rescue.
Emergency officials are also providing free smoke alarms to residents in Walker County.
