Walker County inmate dies after medical emergency

WALKER COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) — The Walker County Sheriff’s Office said one of their inmates died on Friday.

The sheriff’s office identified the inmate as 50-year-old Christopher Jason Callahan.

They said Callahan experienced a “medical emergency” early that morning.

Officers and EMS executed CPR and other life saving measures on the man.

The sheriff’s office said they then transported Callahan to a local hospital. There, they pronounced him dead at around 2 a.m. on Friday.

The coroner then took the body to the GBI lab in Decatur for an autopsy.

The Walker County Sheriff’s Office said Callahan was being held on a probation violation warrant.
