ATHENS, Tennessee (WDEF) – An East Tennessee Sheriff is warning about a spree of nail-dumping on highways in three local counties.

The warning comes from McMinn County Sheriff Joe Guy.

He says that law enforcement and TDOT crews have worked several cases of roffing nails being dumped on roadways.

The number and range of the incidents have convinced officials this is no accident.

There have been nail-dumps in McMinn, Meigs and Bradley Counties.

In McMinn, they were dumped on:

–Highway 30 West

–Highway 305

–I-75 exit ramps

Sheriff Guy says that so far officials have gotten to the nail dumps before any damage has been done to citizens’s vehicles.

The cases are under investigation.

If you have any information about persons or vehicles who may be involved, please call your local Sheriff’s Office.
