Welcome Home offers an online course to help with conversations on end-of-life care

Demystifying Death & Dying

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn (WDEF) – Welcome home is a nonprofit organization that l provides shelter and comfortable living space with family-type care for those who have been diagnosed with a serious illness.

The organization partners with area hospices that provide professional medical care.

As part of their mission, they offer an enrichment program that provides the community opportunities to discuss and learn about end-of-life care.

The course is an 8 week online focusing on normalizing end-of-life care.

“We need more opportunities to feel comfortable about talking to others about difficult topics – about death and how we want that to go for ourselves. We aren’t having those conversations in the emergency rooms or intensive care. This way people will already know our wishes and they will speak confidently if something happens to us,” says Sherry Campbell, Founding Director of Welcome Home of Chattanooga.

The virtual course “Demystifying Death & Dying,” features lectures from 14 guest speakers and is running from September 9th through October 28th.
