Chris Blansit, Wes’ brother-in-law says, “Wes has got a long road but seeing the progress over the last seven weeks. I can’t imagine where he is going to be in another seven. If they don’t put an ankle bracelet on him, he’s going to walk out of the hospital. That’s basically what Wes will do.”

Smile’s, laughs and a little tears could bee seen and heard at the John A. Patten Center today.

Wes Kean’s family held a benefit to raise money for his medical bills.

But, his family has seen progress in his recovery and say that he is determined to race again.

“He is now walking under his own strength. The nurses walk with him to help him hold his balance. He’s walking, he’s talking, every bit of Wes’ personality is there. That’s going to be good for some people and not so good for others because he’s very honorary. if you know Wes, the nurses have a lot coming”, adds Blansit.

Wes’ family is very thankful for all of the support that thy have received.

Blansit says, “There’s going to be a lot. There’s going to be at least another month before getting out of the hospital and a long long road to recovery. There’s a lot of people here and we appreciate everyone. We’ve got people that have donated their time, donated items for auction and for sale to raise all of this money for Wes. In addition to all of the support from the racing community that has been out here since the beginning of this tragic event.”
