What’s Trending? Turnpike Shooting, Scott Baio, & Allegiant Tanks
Pennsylvania authorities still don’t know why a retired state trooper killed a turnpike toll collector and a guard in a holdup attempt Sunday morning. Police say troopers shot Clarence Briggs dead when he tried to escape the toll plaza with the money. Briggs retired in january 2012 with an honorable discharge. He had served 26 years.
Actor Scott Baio created a social media firestorm with his endorsement of Donald Trump. Baio said playing nice doesn’t work any more and that Trump will hit the democrats hard. One Twitter user responded with “Joanie loves Chachi, but Chachi loves Trump.” Another comment said “the sound you hear is a million people Googling ‘Scott Baio still alive.’ ” Baio started acting in his teens on Happy Days. He’s recently played a stay at home dad in the Nickelodeon series “See Dad Run.”
Apple’s Spring press conference today is expected to go small. The headliner is expected to be a smaller version of the iPhone, followed by a smaller version of the iPad Pro. The event takes place at 1pm Eastern.
Texas A&M gets the award for most amazing March Madness comeback, scoring 12 points in 33 seconds to send the game against Northern Iowa into overtime, where they won it. But a buzzer beater in the Wisconsin/Xavier game with two-seconds left comes close. A Wisconsin player drained this three-pointer as time expired to help his team defeat Xavier. The team went wild, Wisconsin fans go wild. But Bill Murray couldn’t believe it! Yes, actor Bill Murray was at the game cheering on Xavier. His son, Luke, is an assistant coach for the Musketeers.
People are talking about the new Divergent movie, Allegiant, this morning, for the wrong reasons. Zootopia continues its reign at the box office over the weekend, while Allegiant opened second. Here’s the problem. Allegiant earned just $29 million. That’s down 44% from the opening of Insurgent, and off 48% from Divergent’s first weekend. Don’t look for the film to get a boost over the Easter weekend. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens Friday.
