Whitfield County alerts residents of recent scam

WHITFIELD COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) — The Whitfield County government is alerting residents of a recent scam going around.

The scammers in this case are impersonating county employees, according to a social media post.

The county says these scammers are falsely claiming they will do home-related services in exchange for money.

“Please be aware that no legitimate Whitfield County employee would solicit funds in exchange for any home-related services,” the county explained.

Whitfield County government officials say if individuals in an unmarked vehicle come to your home and claim to be government employees, you should call 911 and give them as much information on the incident as possible.

They added that county employees will drive marked departmental vehicles and would properly identify themselves upon arrival.
