Whitfield County officers return to work after shooting
Whitfield County, GA (WDEF) – The Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office cleared two officers involving in an officer-involved shooting to return to work.
That’s after officials talked to a representative with the GBI.
Sergeant Michael O’Mahony and Deputy Brad Mathis and two other officers were involved in a high speed chase with suspect Brett Noblitt in a Jeep Cherokee Monday.
Officials say it ended on Maddox Mill Road with the Jeep pulled over with flat tires.
The officers approached it and ordered the suspect to get out.
Officials say the suspect accelerated, driving towards an officer.
Sgt. O’Mahony and Deputy Mathis were closest to the vehicle and fired at the driver, killing him.
The dash-cam video of the incident confirmed the officers’ statements and was seized by the GBI.
